MSU is providing selected Microsoft licenses for departmental use under an Enrollment for Education Solution (EES). In addition, box copy software is also available. While some ESS licenses for student and personal use will be offered in the future, currently Office 365 University is available as box copy software only.
Use Information
Departmental Use
All MSU departments may use licenses on departmentally owned machines. Licenses are based on the current version of the software, though it's possible to downgrade to a previous version.
Student/Personal Use
Michigan State University offers a copy of Microsoft Office Pro Plus to all undergraduate and graduate students as part of their tuition. Faculty and staff use for Microsoft Office through Microsoft 365 migration is still in development. More information can be found here:

Departmental Use
Perpetual Licenses
- Purchase a license for Microsoft. Your receipt is your proof of license.
- Activation Code - The product key will be supplied to you via email after your purchase.
- Purchase media if needed (Licenses and Media are sold separately) - Go to msu.onthehub to purchase media for your non-campus agreement licenses. Trial versions downloaded from microsoft.com cannot be used with MSU licenses.
Enrollment for Education Solution (ESS) Licenses (Campus Agreement Licenses)
- Purchase a $0.00 license.
- Activation Code – The product key will be supplied to you via email after your purchase.
- Purchase media if needed – Go to msu.onthehub to obtain a download of the media.
Student/Personal Use
The software comes with everything you need to install and activate the software. Insert the CD and follow the on screen instructions.
Home Use Provision

A home use provision is not currently available.
Student/Personal Use
A home use provision is not available. Products on this price list will license one computer only.
Media
Departmental Use
Media must be purchased separately and for most media please visit msu.onthehub. Trial versions downloaded from microsoft.com cannot be used with MSU licenses.

Media is included with the license.
