Use Information
SAS software is available through a site license from the MSU Tech Store. This is an annual license that expires January 31, 2024. All licenses must be renewed at this time.
Departmental Use
SAS licenses are available for purchase by departments for MSU owned equipment and are for teaching and research purposes only. Administrative use (providing information about the university to the university) is not permitted with the standard Teaching and Research licenses and requires the use of an Administrative license. Please contact the MSU Tech Store if you are uncertain of the type of license you need to use.
Your SAS license(s) must be paid for with a university account number. Licenses and media are not returnable.
If you need a stand alone Linux license for your PC, please use the part numbers listed in the SAS for Windows and Linux price list.
SAS departmental licenses can be used out of the country for up to 90 days. There are countries where our SAS license use is prohibited. Please contact the MSU Tech Store if you have questions or if you need more information.
Student/Personal Use
SAS licenses are available for purchase by students, faculty, and staff for Teaching and Research purposes only. These licenses are for personally owned machines only. A student verification form must be filled out at the MSU Tech Stor the at the time of purchase or MSU ID must be presented at time of purchase. Faculty must show valid MSU ID at time of purchase. These licenses and media are not returnable.
SAS student licenses can be used out of the country for up to 90 days. There are countries where our SAS license use is prohibited. Please contact the MSU Tech Store if you have questions or if you need more information.
Installation Information
- Purchase a license for SAS (annual renewal required). Your receipt is your proof of license.
- Activation Code - After your purchase, you will receive an email from the MSU Tech Store. This email will replace the physical disk that contained the license files in previous years. The email will contain new installation instructions along with a new SID file that you will need to continue using your SAS software until January 31, 2024.
- Purchase New Media if Needed - Version 9.4 is available via msu.onthehub.com. Instructions for a new installation of version 9.4 will be provided with your purchase either. Version 9.4 is compatible with Windows 8.1 Pro (or higher) and Windows 10 Pro (or higher). Home versions of older operating systems are not compatible with SAS.
Upgrades
If a new version is released, you may purchase a new media set as long as you have a current and valid license.
Concurrent Licensing Information
Floating/Network Licenses are no longer available for SAS. Please purchase the number of stand alone licenses that you need that equals the number of persons using the license.
Home Use Provision
Home use is allowed under the license agreement if the software is being used for university work.
