Student Use

One year, or partial year, licenses for students can be purchased from https://msu.onthehub.com.

Departmental Use

IBM SPSS Statistics software is available through a site license from the MSU Tech Store. This is an annual license valid from February 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024. All licenses must be renewed at this time.

IBM SPSS Statistics may be purchased by departments for use on MSU owned machines. Licenses are to be used for teaching and non-commercial research only. Contact us if you have questions about appropriate use of the licenses.

The license currently supports versions 28 and 27 for Windows and Mac (Intel only). The current version can be downloaded directly at msu.onthehub.com for $0.00 for Departments (media only) and for $20.00 for students (media and license code). For any media downloaded via msu.onthehub.com for Departments, you will also need to purchase a license from the MSU Tech Store in order to get your codes for the contract period.

We only have one type of license in a tiered structure that will be used for both new purchases and for renewals. Prices are listed, per license, in 4 different tiers of pricing. If you have any questions, please contact the MSU Tech Store.

Separate part numbers for network licenses are not available. Please purchase the appropriate number of licenses that you will be using concurrently from the respective tier. You will then need to request a network code from the Site License Coordinator in order to use your licenses on a network. Please include the number of licenses, platform, and version in your request.

MSU affiliated teaching hospitals should contact IBM/SPSS directly to obtain a separate license contract. The current MSU contract is restricted to MSU departmental use. Please call (517) 432-0700 and ask for software licensing to obtain more information.

SPSS licenses are not returnable.

Installation Information

Departmental Use

  1. Purchase a license for SPSS (annual renewal required). Your receipt is your proof of license.
  2. Activation Code - You will be provided with an instruction sheet for installing your software and activating your license at the time of purchase. Your instruction sheet will also include an Authorization Code required to unlock the IBM SPSS modules.
    • For Network Licenses, please submit a request for a Network Authorization Code to techstore@msu.edu. Include the number of users, the platform, and the version number you would like to install.
  3. Obtain Media if Needed - Download from msu.onthehub.com.

Concurrent Licensing Information

Departmental Use

Floating/Network licenses are no longer a separate part number. Please purchase the appropriate number of licenses that you need for your network. The number of simultaneous users may not exceed the number of licenses purchased. Please contact the MSU Tech Store at techstore@msu.edu to obtain your codes for Network licenses.

Media

Departmental Use

Media must be purchased separately. Media for versions 26 and 25 can be downloaded directly from msu.onthehub.com.
